The beautiful Baa Atoll

The Maldives is made up of 20 atolls that dot the ocean like a string of pearls. Ours, the heart-shaped Baa Atoll, with 61 islands and 105 reefs, is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve that teems with marine life like nowhere on earth.

Activities

SNORKELLING

The house reef at Fares is becoming known as the best reef in the Baa Atoll and the locals have known this for centuries. Snorkel at your own pace, borrow fins and a snorkel to peer below the surface. Get up close with colourful schools of fish and majestic hawksbill turtles. Watch a surreal drama of Indian Ocean life unfold all around you. The reef is accessible from everywhere on the beach, dolphins bay lagoon and from our overwater villas.

DIVING

With clear blue water, white sand beaches, and great visibility, scuba diving from the beach at Avani+ Fares is even possible. The main island is surrounded by several dive sites and minutes away offers the opportunity for even the most beginner or advanced divers for an unforgettable experience in an idyllic paradise. Please contact us for full details and questions you may have on diving.

ADOPT A CORAL

Be a part of ‘Forever Maldives’ and adopt a coral. Our marine biologist will show you how to nurse a coral fragment into full bloom.

EXCURSIONS

For those who prefer to keep their feet dry, set sail in search of turtles or big game to fish. With luck, dolphins will play in your wake.

BIODIVERSITY

Our island is a paradise of flora and fauna. You’ll find labels on our indigenous plants, making every stroll a botanical tour. And our bird-spotting challenge will keep you on the lookout for all our beautiful, wild residents.
