How do AQ guests travel from the airport to the hotel?

The hotel’s AQ packages include airport transfers from your arrival airport (Suvarnabhumi or U-Tapao airports). Transfers from Don Mueang International Airport will incur an additional THB 500 nett charge. Transfers will be by shared van with a maximum capacity of four guests per van. Seating arrangements align with social distancing measures and are approved by the Thai Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).

Is Avani Pattaya Resort an Alternative Quarantine (AQ) hotel?

Yes. Avani Pattaya Resort is a certified Alternative Quarantine (AQ) facility, as certified by the Department of Public Health and Ministry of Defence. Under AQ certification, guests are confined exclusively to their rooms in dedicated and isolated areas and have no access to the hotel’s public facilities and public areas. Avani Pattaya Resort works in partnership with Bangkok Hospital Pattaya and participants under the AQ programme undergo one or two COVID-19 screening tests, depending on the length of their quarantine stay.

Why do AQ guests have to stay in the hotel for one night longer than the designated quarantine period in some cases?

Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health requires AQ guests to quarantine according to the arrival time of the flights into Thailand.
If the flight arrives from 12.01 am – 6.00 pm this will be counted as Day 1 of the quarantine.
If the flight arrives from 6.01 pm – 12.00 midnight this will be counted as Day 0 of the quarantine.

Are AQ guests tested for COVID-19 at the hotel?

Yes. Avani Pattaya Resort works in partnership with Bangkok Hospital Pattaya to look after the health and safety of AQ guests at the hotel. AQ guests undergo two COVID-19 screening tests during their stay. Quarantined guests undergo a twice-daily compulsory temperature check.

Can regular guests come into contact with AQ guests? How do you ensure that AQ guests do not come into contact with regular guests?

AQ guests stay alone in quarantine at the hotel’s dedicated and isolated AQ facility. They do not encounter other regular guests, other AQ guests or any of our team during their stay. AQ guests arrive at the hotel directly from the airport in a specially designed vehicle upon entering the Kingdom and enter the hotel via dedicated and isolated back-of-house areas, using service elevators to go directly to their allocated rooms.

Are AQ guests allowed to leave their rooms?

No.

Are AQ guests allowed to use the hotel’s swimming pool?

No. Under AQ certification guests in quarantine are not allowed to enter the swimming pool for any reason.

Are AQ guests allowed to use the hotel’s spa?

No.

Are AQ guests allowed to use the hotel’s gym?

No. Selected gym and exercise equipment is available to rent, subject to availability – please contact the hotel for details or to reserve specific equipment.

Are AQ guests allowed to visit each other in their rooms?

No. AQ guests are not allowed to visit each other in their rooms at any time during their stay.

Is the hotel limited to AQ guests only, or can anyone stay at or visit the hotel’s facilities?

The hotel is open to the public and all facilities and services are operational in accordance with the compulsory protocols and health and safety measures relating to practical distancing, as set out by the Centre for the COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

The hotel is also accepting regular guests, who will stay in a different building completely. AQ guests are housed on certain floors of the hotel that cannot be accessed by other guests. Under AQ certification, AQ guests are confined exclusively to their rooms in dedicated and isolated areas and have no access to the hotel’s public facilities and any public areas.

Are AQ guests allowed to receive visitors from outside the hotel?

No.

What kind of food does the hotel provide?

International and Asian cuisine, with a variety of menu items.

Does the hotel offer halal food?

No. We can provide food without pork or lard, but our kitchen is not halal certified.

Can married couples share a hotel room?

Yes. A copy of the couple’s marriage or partnership certificate must be submitted when making the AQ hotel reservation.

Can families share a hotel room?

Yes. Subject to the maximum occupants allowed per selected room or suite type. A copy of the parents’ marriage certificate must be submitted when making the AQ hotel reservation.

Can friends or unmarried couples share a hotel room?

No. Only married couples and families can share a room.

Do infants stay for free?

No. A supplement for infants applies. This includes two COVID-19 screening tests, a twice-daily compulsory temperature check and healthcare services by Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.

Does the hotel supply baby food, diapers and other amenities for infants?

Avani Pattaya Resort supplies basic childrens’ amenities in rooms. For infants, parents are required to bring items such as baby food and diapers along. Cold storage facilities for baby food are available upon request. Deliveries from online shopping are allowed (please see conditions relating to deliveries to hotel rooms). In addition, the hotel can assist in buying essential items from shops nearby.

Is smoking allowed in guest rooms?

No. Smoking is not permitted in guest rooms under any circumstances. A THB 30,000 cleaning fee will apply in cases where guests are found to have smoked in their rooms.

Are kids’ menus available for meals?

Yes

Are pets allowed in hotel rooms?

No.

Can AQ guests receive deliveries?

Yes. Under the following conditions (please note that messaging services are strictly prohibited):

  • The guest must inform the hotel of the delivery in advance, including date of delivery and estimated time of arrival. Upon delivery, the hotel is required to open and inspect the contents, then reseal the package in the presence of the delivery person, before delivering it to the guest’s room.
  • For deliveries of prescription medicines, guests must provide a prescription and this has to be authorised by the hotel’s nurse.
  • Items prohibited for delivery include: food and beverage, alcohol, narcotics, weapons and ammunition.

Can AQ guests receive food deliveries from family and friends?

No. Food deliveries by family members, friends or someone related to the guests are not allowed.

Do I need to pay for my AQ stay in advance?

Yes. Full payment for the selected AQ package must be made when booking an AQ stay at Avani Pattaya Resort.

Can I cancel or change an AQ reservation?

In case of a room cancellation, the advanced payment is non-refundable. In case of a change of stay dates, the hotel must be notified in writing 48 hours in advance of the original arrival date and the rebooking is subject to room availability for the newly requested dates.

What happens if AQ stays are no longer required on the date I am due to arrive in Thailand? 

If AQ stays are no longer required by the Thai government on the date you are due to arrive in the country, you will be entitled to cancel and receive a full or partial refund on your advance payment. If the final required date for AQ stays falls during your stay, you will receive a full or partial refund for all unused nights.

What happens if the required length of AQ stays is reduced before or during my stay?  

If the required length of AQ stays is reduced by the Thai government you will receive a full or partial refund for all unused nights.

Can AQ guests extend their stay at the hotel after the completion of the compulsory quarantine period?

Guests are welcome to continue their stay at Avani Pattaya Resort. This can be arranged by contacting our guest services/front office team.

Do the same service staff tend to outside visitors and AQ guests?

No. A dedicated service team tends to the needs of AQ guests only, including housekeeping and in-room dining. The dedicated service team wear personal protective equipment (PPE) whenever they enter the dedicated and isolated AQ facility, and properly discard said attire when exiting the area. This is in line with the Centre for the COVID-19 Situation Administration’s (CCSA) protocols.

Do AQ guests and visitors to the hotel’s restaurants and bars use the same cutlery, crockery and glassware?

No. AQ guests use separate dedicated cutlery, crockery and glassware that are washed separately in dedicated industrial dishwashers. In addition to closely following the strictest hygiene and sanitation procedures and government requirements, Avani properties have implemented the AvaniSHIELD programme that promotes heightened sanitisation and hygiene measures, with a dedicated AvaniSHIELD Agent responsible for internal audits based on a series of rigid brand guidelines.

Can the COVID-19 virus travel from one guest room to another through the hotel’s air-conditioning system?

No. Under AQ certification all guest rooms at Avani Pattaya Resort standalone air-conditioning units. Each room’s air-conditioning unit and filters are properly sanitised after the guest checks out.

Does Avani have a preferred COVID-19 health insurance provider?

Yes, we recommend AXA Thailand’s Sawadee Thailand: Inbound Travel Insurance package, which meets all criteria for AQ stays at our properties.
