PRE-ARRIVAL & ARRIVAL

To enter Botswana at all border points, you'll need:

Proof of being fully vaccinated is a requirement for entry into Botswana

  • All persons entering Botswana need to show certification that they have been fully vaccinated, either completion of the two dose vaccine regimen or single does of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
  • when a person is not fully vaccinated, they will be required to present a 72 hour negative PCR COVID-19 test result and undergo COVID-19 vaccination at the port of entry, which will be facilitated by the ministry for free.  After the vaccination, they will be allowed to enter the country.
  • If one has no proof of being fully vaccinated and has no 72 hour negative PCR test results, they will be required to undergo PCR testing at ports of entry, at their own cost and were necessary quarantine at own cost, while waiting for the results. if the results are negative enter into Botswana will be allowed.  If the results are positive, entry into Botswana will denied.
  • Non-Botswana citizens: - If one has no proof of being vaccinated, is not willing to be vaccinated at the port of entry, has no 72 hour negative PCR test result and no willing to be test at own cost, entry into Botswana will be denied. 
  • Botswana citizens: - If one has no proof of being vaccinated, is not willing to be vaccinated at the port of entry, has no 72 hour negative PCR test result and no willing to be test at own cost, they will be liable for a fine of BWP 5000 or imprisonment not exceeding one year or both

CHILDREN REGULATIONS

  • The Botswana government has introduced new immigration rules from 1 October 2016. Children (under 18 years of age) who are travelling into or through Botswana must provide a certified copy of their full unabridged birth certificate as well as a valid passport (an abridged (short) birth certificate won’t be accepted).
  • If the child is travelling with one parent, with another adult or unaccompanied, the parent or parents who aren’t present will need to provide an affidavit giving their consent for the child to travel.

IN COUNTRY/ HOTEL REGULATIONS

  • A person shall wear a cloth face mask or homemade item that covers the nose and mouth or another appropriate item that covers the nose and mouth when in a public place. Failure to do so may result in a fine.
