5 incredible places to experience Pride Month 2024
Join us as we travel to the world's most vibrant cities during Pride Month. From the bustling streets of Bangkok to the fashion-forward avenues of Milan, we'll explore the best of LGBTQ+ culture, nightlife and celebration in five incredible destinations around the world.
Bangkok: City of smiles
Pride Month in Bangkok is a colourful affair and June is your go-to for the most fabulous festivities. While the Pride Parade festivities took place in early June this year, the celebrations continue throughout the month. Explore the nightlife of Silom or catch stellar drag show performances at venues throughout the city – Lost & Found near the river is a great place to start.
And Bangkok isn’t all about Pride activities. Fiery street food, ancient temples, rich culture, bustling markets and lavish shopping malls are to be found everywhere, so you’ll never be short of things to see and do.

Where to stay: Remember, it’s all about location when choosing where to stay in Bangkok (yes, the traffic!). Avani+ Bangkok Riverside Hotel is just downstream from Chinatown, with boats plying the river all day long, while Avani Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel is directly connected to the zippy skytrain.
Milan: Fashion forward
Milano Pride is a stylish affair. Think high fashion meets high energy with a generous dash of Italian flair. This year the main Milano Pride event takes place on 29 June. Prepare for a massive street celebration, ending at the Porta Venezia. There will also be lots of events and happenings in the days around the main event.
And while you’re in the city, there are plenty of other attractions and events to explore too. Shopping is a must – we recommend Via Monte Napoleone for high-end fashion, or Brera for indie boutiques. The canals, cafés and lively atmosphere of Navigli district are perfect for relaxed evenings, or if you want to tick ‘see an opera’ off your bucket list, Milan is the place to do it.

Where to stay: Say 'caio' to Italy's fashion capital at Avani Palazzo Moscova Milan Hotel, conveniently located in the Porta Nuova area. Enjoy the perfect combination of classic and modern with shopping in the trendy boutiques of Corso Garibaldi and partying the night away on the Corso Como.
Melbourne: Where art meets heart
The weather may be chilly, but the vibes are always warm in Melbourne for international Pride Month (the big local celebration happens in February), where there are lots of events and activities to keep you entertained. Catch a comedy show, join a 5 km Pride run, or check out the city’s LGBTQ+ bars, parties and drag shows.
Other highlights include the incredible street art around Hosier Lane and other laneways in the inner city, the hipster vibes of Brunswick Street, or a trip to seaside St Kilda (be sure to bundle up!).

Madrid: Passionate and proud
The festivities in Madrid start on 28 June and continue right through until 7 July when visitors to the Spanish capital can enjoy a celebration of LGBTQ+ culture including music, dance, theatre, poetry, fine arts, puppetry and more. The celebrations will culminate in the Madrid Gay Pride 2024 parade, a massive party in the heart of the city, kicking off at the Chueca Neighbourhood and proceeding into key streets like Gran Vía, Fuencarral, and Castellana. Prepare for an extravaganza of multi-stage entertainment with concerts and performances graced by renowned celebrities and local activists and artists.
If you do find some downtime amid all the festivities we recommend checking out the cafés and vintage shops of the Malasana district, and of course enjoying plenty of sangria and tapas!

Where to stay: At Avani Alonso Martinez Madrid Hotel, you’ll stay on a quiet tree-lined avenue marked by fabulous period architecture, but just 100 metres away are the city’s coolest restaurants and bars.
Lisbon: Coastal cool
In Lisbon, Pride Month is a sun-soaked celebration brimming with vibrant energy and coastal charm. Also known as Arraial Pride, Lisbon Pride festivities centre around two days of revelry on 22 – 23 June, with the main parade on the Saturday winding through the picturesque streets of Bairro Alto, the heart of the city's LGBTQ+ scene.
Between festivities, soak up the city's historic beauty with a tram ride through Alfama or relax on the sandy shores of Costa da Caparica. Lisbon’s blend of old-world charm and modern, welcoming vibes makes it an unforgettable Pride destination.

Where to stay: Unwind in the heart of the city at Avani Avenida Liberdade Lisbon Hotel – a calm refuge in the lively buzz of Lisbon. When the day's exploits are over, it's just a short stroll back to the hotel's prime location. Come back to Lisbon’s premier shopping avenue and enjoy a cocktail on the rooftop, grab a delicious meal at SEEN Lisboa, or simply kick your feet up in your chic and stylish room.
