THAILAND TRAVEL INFORMATION

From 1 November 2021, fully vaccinated travellers from approved countries/territories can enjoy quarantine-free travel to Thailand and visit all their favourite destinations from day one under the Test & Go programme.

Fully vaccinated travellers from most other countries can enjoy travel to Thailand in a choice of popular ‘Blue Zone’ destinations, while all non-vaccinated travellers will need to complete a mandatory AQ hotel quarantine. 

Important Notice for Travellers to Koh Samui via Bangkok

Please be advised that flights to Koh Samui for international transit travellers via Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok are only available on the following daily Bangkok Airways routes (through partner international airlines and on the same itinerary):

  • PG 5125 – Departing 12:00 noon (Thailand time)
  • PG 5171 – Departing 5:10 pm (Thailand time)

Travellers who have already completed their Test & Go, Blue Zone or AQ stays can easily travel on all domestic flights between Bangkok and Koh Samui.

Test & Go

Approved countries/territories: Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Laos, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Vietnam. 

Requirements

Travellers must:

  • Have spent at least 21 consecutive days in approved countries/territories before travelling. *
  • Be fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine at least 14 days before arrival. **
  • Complete the Thailand Pass registration process
  • Have a one-night reservation at a SHA Extra+ or Alternative Quarantine (AQ) hotel. ***
  • Have medical insurance with minimum coverage of USD 50,000. ****
  • Have a negative COVID-19 test result issued within 72 hours before travelling. 
  • Receive a COVID-19 PCR test on arrival and remain in their hotel room until they receive a negative result. *****
  • Take a rapid antigen (ATK) self-test on day six/seven.  *****

* Not applicable to Thai nationals/residents who travelled to and returned from an approved country within 21 days.

Blue Zone travel

Fully vaccinated travellers from all other countries can travel to 17 ‘Blue Zone' provinces, where they can travel within approved areas for the first seven days, and travel freely anywhere in Thailand thereafter.

Approved Blue Zone provinces (and districts):

Central Region: Bangkok, and Ayutthaya (Mueang), Kanchanaburi, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Phetchaburi (Cha-Am), Prachuap Khiri Khan (Mueang, Hua Hin, Nong Kae), and Samut Prakan (Suvarnabhumi Airport).

Eastern Region: 
Chanthaburi (Mueang, Tha Mai), Chon Buri (Bang Lamung, Koh Si Chang, Pattaya, Si Racha, and only Bang Sarey and Na Jomtien subdistricts in Sattahip district), Rayong (Koh Samet), Trat (Koh Chang, Koh Kut).

Northern Region: 
Chiang Mai (Mueang, Chom Thong, Doi Tao, Mae Rim, Mae Taeng), Chiang Rai (Mueang, Chiang Khong, Chiang Saen, Mae Chan, Mae Fah Luang, Mae Sai, Phan, Thoeng, Wiang Kaen, Wiang Pa Pao), Loei (Chiang Khan).

Northeastern Region: 
Buri Ram (Mueang), Khon Kaen (Mueang, Khao Suan Kwang, Poei Noi, Phon, Phu Wiang, Ubolratana), Nakhon Ratchasima (Mueang, Chaloem Phra Kiat, Chok Chai, Pak Chong, Phimai, Sikhio, Wang Nam Khiao), Nong Khai (Mueang, Si Chiang Mai Tha Bo), Surin (Mueang Tha Tum), Udon Thani (Mueang, Ban Dung, Kumphawapi, Na Yung, Prachaksilpakhom, Nong Han).

Southern Region: 
Krabi, Phang-Nga, Phuket, Ranong (Koh Phayam), Surat Thani (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao).

Requirements

Travellers must:

  • Arrive in Thailand by air. *
  • Be fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine at least 14 days before arrival. **
  • Complete the Thailand Pass registration process
  • Have a seven-night reservation at a SHA Extra+ hotel in a Blue Zone area. ***
  • Have medical insurance with minimum coverage of USD 50,000. ****
  • Have a negative COVID-19 test result issued within 72 hours before travelling. 
  • Receive a COVID-19 PCR test on arrival and remain in their hotel room until they receive a negative result. *****
  • Receive a COVID-19 PCR test on day six or seven. *****

* Blue Zone travellers must arrive at Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Samui, U-Tapao or Buriram (charter flights only) airports.

Can I travel to Thailand without quarantine?
Yes, from 1 November 2021, fully vaccinated travellers and accompanying children can travel to Thailand from 46 approved countries/territories without completing mandatory quarantine.
Can I travel anywhere in Thailand after arrival?
Yes, if you are from an approved country you can travel anywhere in Thailand after completing an initial RT-PCR test on arrival.
What if I am not from an approved country?
Fully vaccinated travellers from most non-approved countries can travel to 17 Blue Zone provinces and enjoy unrestricted travel within designated areas for seven days and travel to anywhere in Thailand after.
How long must I be vaccinated before I travel to Thailand?

Which vaccines are accepted for travel to Thailand?
To travel you must be fully vaccinated with any of the vaccines approved by Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) – CoronaVac, AstraZeneca or CoviShield, Pfizer–BioNTech or Comirnaty, Janssen or Janssen/Ad26.COV2.S, Moderna, Sinopharm or COVILO, or Sputnik V – or any vaccine approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Are Avani team members vaccinated against COVID-19?
Yes, team members at our hotels and resorts are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and undergo regular health screening checks.
Under the Test & Go scheme, must I remain in just one approved country in the 21 days before departure?
No, you can move between approved countries as much as you like, but all countries that you spent time in during the 21 days before departure must be on the approved list.
Can I travel to Thailand under the Test & Go programme if I recently recovered from COVID-19?

Yes, you can travel, but you must have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination within 90 days of recovery and no less than 14 days before departure.

Do children need a certificate of vaccination?

Test & Go Programme
Children under 12 travelling with a parent do not need to have a certificate of vaccination, but must have medical insurance.

Blue Zone Programme
Children under 18 travelling with a parent do not need to have a certificate of vaccination, but must have medical insurance.
