Tribe Talks with Mr Kang
In this Tribe Talks, we're catching up with Mr Kang, Editor-in-Chief of Travie Magazine, a notable travel publication in Korea known for its captivating portrayal of destinations through compelling writing and striking photography. He recently experienced the beauty of the African wildlife at Avani Victoria Falls Resort in Zambia. As an Adventurer at heart, he discovered the perfect blend of nature immersion and cultural experiences.

As part of the Adventurer tribe, what specific activity or feature at the Avani Victoria Falls Resort stood out to you and why?
After arriving at Livingstone Airport and heading to the hotel for check-in, a herd of over 20 elephants blocked the path in front of the car. The driver told me that all the land leading to Avani is part of the 'Mosi oa Tunya National Park', so this is a very common occurrence.

The next morning, I woke up to the sound of giraffes munching on trees. I went for a 20-minute morning walk along the hotel's path, and before I knew it, I was standing in front of Victoria Falls, one of the three largest waterfalls in the world.

During my stay at the hotel, everything that happened felt like a dream. The hotel itself is enough of a reason to visit Livingstone, what it offers – from immersive cultural experiences to wildlife encounters -- really stood out for me as an Adventurer tribe.
What was the highlight of your stay at Avani Victoria Falls Resort? How did the hotel's unique offerings enhance your tribe experience?

The cultural performance at Mukuni Boma and the Zambian Village Dining Experience were the highlights of my stay.

Thanks to the amazing performances and experiences provided by the locals, I was able to gain a deeper cultural understanding of Livingstone, Zambia. I would like to commend the level of immersion they offered.
Do you have a memorable photo from your trip that you'd like to share? What's the story behind it, and how does it reflect your experience as an Adventurer?
The photos I took at the Devil's Pool, the most famous photo spot in Livingstone, Zambia. It's a natural pool formed over thousands of years through erosion, and it usually opens from mid-August to mid-January depending on the river's water level.

The best time to swim there is in October and November when the water level is the lowest. The Devil's Pool cannot be accessed individually. The only way to get there is through a boat tour organised by a travel agency.

While it's thrilling to visit, it's definitely not dangerous, as the guide carefully controls every situation, and the pool is quite deep. In fact, the real danger here comes from the fish that live in the Devil's Pool. When you enter barefoot, it only takes a second for the fish to start nibbling at your feet. When visiting the Devil's Pool, courage is important, but aqua shoes are a must.
What tips or recommendations would you give to fellow Adventurer tribe members planning a stay at Avani Victoria Falls Resort? What should they definitely not miss?

First, be sure to take the walking path from the back entrance of the Avani Victoria Falls Resort that leads directly to Victoria Falls. Normally, you would need to pay an entrance fee for the trek, but as an Avani guest, you can access it for free. It takes about two hours to leisurely explore the entire path.

And lastly, there are two ways to view Victoria Falls from the sky. One is a helicopter tour and the other is a microlight flight. If you're looking for excitement, I recommend the microlight flight. You'll feel the breeze from the falls and the warmth of the clouds as you soar above the waterfall.
